NO FCRA USE. Benton County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. The site and its advertising partners do not provide a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or any other decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is an Iowa records reference, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.
1. What This Website Is
This is a private reference site with no connection to a public agency. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, conducts official checks, or submits filings for a visitor.
Its material identifies the custodians of Benton County records, including the sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, and Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.
2. Rules for Using This Site
By using the site, you agree not to:
- Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access
- Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
- Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
- Use site content for an FCRA-regulated decision
- Threaten, stalk, or harass a person using information found here
- Violate any applicable federal, Iowa, or local law
3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination
Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Such conduct may be criminal. Iowa Sex Offender Registry data carries especially serious limits under Iowa Code chapter 692A. It is published for lawful awareness, not confrontation, retaliation, or vigilantism.
4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background reports, or other consumer reports. Site data and linked tools may not be used to:
- Make any other choice governed by the FCRA
- Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
- Set insurance terms or evaluate credit
- Assess a rental or housing application
- Make an employment decision
A legally regulated background report must come through an authorized official process or an FCRA-compliant provider.
5. No Legal Advice
Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how an Iowa charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to a specific person. Consult a licensed Iowa attorney for legal guidance.
6. No Warranties
All content and services are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:
- An outside search result will be complete or correct
- The pages contain no defect, error, or security weakness
- Access will always be continuous
- Every item is complete, current, and accurate
Charges, dispositions, restrictions, and expungement status can change after material is published. Gaps and delays are possible. Nothing here is an official statement by the Benton County sheriff, an Iowa court, or another public agency.
7. Third-Party Services and Links
Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-resource, or outside search websites. Those destinations are beyond our control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, prices, or handling of personal data. Review the destination's own terms.
8. Intellectual Property
Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Benton County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.
9. Limits on Our Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from use of the site, its content, or a linked service, including reliance on information obtained from them.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, demands, proceedings, fees, and costs caused by your use of the site or your breach of these terms.
11. Governing Law
Iowa law governs these terms, and a dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located in Iowa. Public-record access in Benton County is governed by the Iowa Open Records Law, Iowa Code chapter 22. Criminal-history collection and dissemination are addressed in Iowa Code chapter 692. Those laws do not make this private website a public custodian or criminal-history repository.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.
13. Cutting Off Access
Access may be suspended or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.
14. Severability
If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
15. Questions
Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
